NOT!

Okay, I’m being mean. I get so many hits from people searching either to cash in on the Haynesville Shale rush or to find more info on it, I couldn’t resist. Can’t wait to see how my traffic is going to jump with that headline!

Seriously, though. By now, if you can find any land to buy around here, the mineral rights will be reserved if the property is anywhere close to the perimeter of the Haynesville Shale location. Sorry, but the cat’s out of the bag, and you would have to be a hermit living under a rock to not know about the Haynesville Shale play and what it means to just about everyone in Northwest Louisiana and Northeast Texas.

Before it’s all said and done it will be hard to buy a house with the minerals rights still intact. If you’re interested in north Bossier, I know of a nice house on acre in the $300,000 range that has mineral rights conveying with the property.

If you’re looking for more information, I’d suggest visiting GoHaynesvilleShale.com which has forums and discussion groups by locale. There are over 2400 members asking questions and passing along information. There are also oil and gas professionals you can ask questions of.
