The Louisiana Energy Star Rebate Program, often referred to as ”Cash for Appliances,” has not yet officially started.  No rebates are being offered yet even though they are being advertised by local appliance retailers.  The program is set to begin in April in Louisiana, and rebates will NOT be given retroactively for purchases made before the program has begun.

The State Energy Office within the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources will make announcements and provide guidelines when the program is active and ready to provide rebates.  At that point, rebates will be issued on a first come, first serve basis out of the 4.2 million dollar federal stimulus money that Louisiana received for this program.

So, if you can, you might want to hold off buying that new Energy Star appliance for a few more months. Click here to see which appliances are covered.
